ENVELOPING SPIRAL
A large square space entirely defined by a spiraling imprint, reminiscent of the complex geometry of an ammonite. A curving wall—at times continuous, at times punctuated by large openings—acts as the structuring element, simultaneously separating and connecting the different rooms. The result is surprisingly dynamic: all functional spaces revolve around a central core—a helical column—in a delicate balance of centrifugal and centripetal forces. Lighting, almost entirely indirect and programmable, enhances the airborne presence of this "fossilized skeleton," creating striking chiaroscuro effects. Environmental comfort is further optimized through a perfect microclimate, achieved via the passive insulation of the building envelope and a sophisticated yet invisible climate control system. |
