CASA SC - rome villa torlonia
THE HYBRID HOME
A 1905 villa near Villa Torlonia; generous spaces, a classical layout, a grand arched hallway, and a formal reception room. It could have remained as it was, with a simple technical upgrade and new finishes. Instead, a shared vision with the owners led to a complete reimagining of how the space is perceived and used. By shedding its "bourgeois" attributes, the home gained freedom, poetry, and character. The structural envelope was reduced to its essence, preserving its strongest identity traits, while a second layer introduced light, enveloping elements: glass surfaces, integrated furnishings, and luminous lines that weave through the spaces, suggesting an entirely new spatial continuity. One moves beneath a starry sky, following trails of light, navigating unforced paths. Each person discovers their own way of inhabiting and reinventing the space. |
