SATURN'S RING
IMMATTERIAL SUSPENSION
The idea of a medium-large-sized luminous ring-shaped body originated in a specific context – the conversion of a prestigious historical space into a library – but it offers a high-quality lighting solution wherever spatial characteristics require the use of suspended fixtures with direct/indirect emission. The design intent is to create a suspended luminous disc in which opaque components are minimized in favor of large, diffusing luminous surfaces that accentuate its immateriality and lightness. The annular shape, with its central void, creates an additional dematerializing effect and allows for the “encapsulation” of architectural elements (such as columns), enhancing their finishes with strongly angled light cuts. Given the reduced thickness of the luminous disc, the emission focuses along vertical directions, offering both architectural lighting (directed upwards) and task lighting (directed downwards) with extremely comfortable luminance values. |
